Learn Modern Calligraphy
When life gets busy, you can often go weeks & months without spending quality time with loved ones, which is why learning or doing something together to celebrate mothers day goes far further than a physical gift. You have two options when it comes to learning Modern Calligraphy, it all depends on whether you just want to try it to see if it suits you with a brush pen, or if you're committed to learning with a traditional dip pen.
Are they the same?
The style is the same, you can learn the same alphabet for both brush pen and dip pen!
So what's different?
Brush pen is slightly easier to pick up as it only requires one pen with a brush tip. The brush tip allows you to do thin strokes on the way up using the tip and thick strokes on the way down by applying a little pressure. Whilst the style is the same as dip pen, it's not as fine because the thickness of the brush pen is a little wider.
Dip Pen is a bit more technical, it requires a nib, ink, pen holder and layout paper to get going. How you hold the pen will also affect how easy it is for you to create the same thin and thick strokes, this means it takes longer to grasp than the brush pen.
If you'd like to learn in person, please find all the upcoming workshops here.
If you'd like to learn at home, please find the online dip pen workshop here. Brush pen will also be available online later this year
